How Assetium works

Overview

Assetium is a basket protocol for Robinhood Chain. It wraps tokenized US stocks and ETFs issued by Robinhood, together with tokenized real-world assets such as treasury funds and gold, into single ERC-20 vault tokens. Each vault is fully backed and redeemable. The protocol has no exposure to cryptocurrencies other than through equities like Coinbase or Strategy.

Three parts make up the system: the vaults that hold assets, the $ASTM token that governs them and discounts fees, and governance that decides which assets and vaults exist.

Vaults

A vault is deployed with a list of component tokens and a fixed amount of each per share. For example, the MAG7 vault defines one share as 0.16 AAPL + 0.16 MSFT + 0.16 NVDA + 0.14 AMZN + 0.14 GOOGL + 0.12 META + 0.12 TSLA stock tokens. That definition never changes.

  • Mint: call quoteMint(shares) to see the exact component amounts, approve them, then call mint(shares, to). The vault pulls the components and mints shares. The mint fee is taken in shares.
  • Redeem: call redeem(shares, to). Shares are burned and the components are transferred to you in the same transaction.
  • No rebalancing: weights drift with prices. If you want a different mix, redeem and mint a different vault.
  • Dividends: Robinhood stock tokens handle corporate actions at the token level. Assetium vaults pass through whatever the underlying token does.

Redeem0.50% (cap 2%)Vault sharesTreasury

Fees are set by governance and hard-capped at 2% in the contract. Staked $ASTM reduces them.

Staking

Stake $ASTM in AssetiumStaking to earn a discount on every vault's mint and redeem fee. Tiers are set by governance. Requesting an unstake starts a seven-day cooldown before tokens can be withdrawn, so discounts cannot be borrowed for a single transaction.

Silver100,000+25%
Gold1,000,000+50%

Governance

$ASTM is a plain ERC-20 minted by Pons, so it has no vote checkpoints. Assetium uses lock-to-vote: tokens are locked in the governor for the length of a vote and returned afterwards.

  • Propose: lock 1,000,000 ASTM (0.1% of supply).
  • Voting delay: 1 day. Voting period: 5 days. Quorum: 20,000,000 ASTM (2%).
  • Timelock: 2 days between a vote passing and execution.
  • What governance can do: allow or remove assets, create vaults, change fees within the cap, change the treasury and staking pointers, spend the treasury.
  • What governance cannot do: move or freeze user deposits, change a vault's composition, mint vault shares without backing.

Contracts

Solidity 0.8.24 with OpenZeppelin 5. Source lives in the contracts/ folder of this repository with a Foundry test suite. Addresses appear here after deployment on Robinhood Chain.

Robinhood Chain

Robinhood Chain is a Layer 2 built with the Arbitrum stack. It settles Robinhood's stock tokens and is designed for tokenized real-world assets.

Roadmap

  1. Core contracts: Treasury and Vault Factory deployed on Robinhood Chain.
  2. Vaults: six vaults created from 37 Robinhood Stock Tokens and ETFs, each checked against Robinhood's official token list.
  3. $ASTM: token created on Pons with locked Uniswap V3 liquidity.
  4. Staking and governance: staking tiers and the lock-to-vote governor deployed for $ASTM.
  5. Audit and integrations: external audit of the vault contracts, then integrations that accept vault tokens as collateral.

Risk warning

Read before using Assetium

Market risk. Tokenized stocks, ETFs and real-world assets can fall in value, including to zero. A vault token is worth exactly its components, no more.

Liquidity risk. You can always redeem a vault token for its components, but selling those components depends on the liquidity of each underlying token on Robinhood Chain.

Issuer risk. Robinhood Stock Tokens are tokenised debt securities issued by Robinhood Assets (Jersey) Limited, so their value depends on that issuer. Tokenized ETFs, including Treasury, bond and commodity funds, carry the same issuer dependency.

Regulatory risk. Robinhood stock tokens are offered only in eligible regions. It is your responsibility to check whether you may hold them.

Irreversibility. Every action is a transaction you sign with your own wallet. Assetium never holds your keys or funds and cannot reverse anything.

FAQ

Why only stocks and real-world assets?

Basket protocols for crypto already exist. Assetium is built only for tokenized equities, ETFs and RWAs on Robinhood Chain. Crypto exposure is possible through listed companies like Coinbase, Strategy or Robinhood, not through tokens.

What is a Robinhood stock token?

A standard 18-decimal ERC-20 on Robinhood Chain that gives economic exposure to a US-listed stock or ETF. Stock Tokens are tokenised debt securities issued by Robinhood Assets (Jersey) Limited and grant no legal or beneficial rights in the underlying security. Dividends and splits are applied through an on-chain multiplier (ERC-8056), so raw balances never change. Tokens live in self-custody wallets and move 24/7; minting and burning follow Robinhood's tokenization window. The full list is at docs.robinhood.com/chain/contracts.

Is a vault token the same as owning the stock?

No. A vault token is a claim on stock tokens held by the vault contract, and a stock token is itself a claim on shares held by Robinhood's custodian. You do not receive shareholder voting rights.

Does $ASTM back the vaults?

No. Vaults are backed only by their components. $ASTM is a separate governance and fee-discount token.

Can I use Assetium from the United States?

Stock Token availability depends on your jurisdiction. Check Robinhood's terms for your region before acquiring them. Assetium does not provide brokerage services.

Where is the code?

Contracts and the site are in this repository. The contracts folder includes a Foundry test suite and a deployment script for Robinhood Chain.
